Please post all blogs about cultural perspectives on food here.
For example, Singapore is a truly international country comprised of several different ethic groups who all contribute to Singapore's distinct cuisine. Indian, Malay, and Chinese dishes and spices pepper (or curry, if you will) the Singaporean menu. From this rich tapestry of interwoven tastes, we can understand that Singapore is a place that has been a center of trade for centuries. Ships carrying trade goods from the west to the east and vice versa exchanged ideas, wealth, and most important spices and food. Singapore truly is a multicultural city! The next time you travel think about the food of the country and what it tells you about the culture of the land and its history.

with our gracious hostess - Wendy
On our search for the true cuisine culture of Singapore, we ended up meeting Wendy, the hostess of the Sum Long Teochew Braised Duck noodle shop near the Tiong Bahru Market. She greeted us with a smile and piping hot bowls of duck noodle soup. She was eager to tell us all about the history of this soup and answer all of our questions. Wendy and her soup were definitely a highlight of Singapore culture for myself and the rest of the iTooth gang.
Thank you Wendy - See you next time we are in Singapore!
We were not the fist patrons to happen upon this wonderful Singapore experience. Here are a few blogs from other people who were also impressed with Wendy and her delicious soup:
